Jessie BartonJessie Barton is a communication studies major at Drury University. Not too long ago, she visited Red Racks on Glenstone and picked up a few items to make a present for her sorority-little, Shannon.

Barton brought back two things for Shannon, a basket and a sweatshirt.

“I got this sweatshirt for Shannon because Shannon likes funny sweatshirts and animals, so what’s better than a tacky green sweater with cats?” Nothing. Nothing is ever better than a tacky green sweater with cats.

Basket

[On purchasing the basket] “I was set on getting her the basket because I think baskets with a variety of things make for meaningful gifts.” I couldn’t agree more. Thrift stores ALWAYS have baskets. Take advantage of buying some. Baskets are a great way to gift things but also to organize belongings in a fun way.

Jessie’s story is important for us to all realize we don’t need to spend money on lavish gifts for our friends and family, that we can find the most meaningful treasures at thrift stores at a cheap price. Next time you’re gifting something, consider going to a thrift store. The meaningful gesture behind thrift store gifts combined with the authentic personality of thrift stores is incredible. Just being able to say, “Hey, I was at a thrift store, I saw this and thought of you,” is priceless. Thanks for sharing with us, Jessie!

Did you gift something from a thrift store recently? What was your experience? Comment here or better yet, submit your haul!
