Shannon Barry, secondary education English major at Drury University, has been thrifting her whole life, “My mom loved taking my sister and me to thrift stores growing up,” Barry recalls. “I remember going when I was five and watching my mom get excited when we would shop. And now I like shopping at thrift stores too.”
Recently, Barry shopped at Red Racks on Glenstone, just in time for Halloween. “Halloween is my favorite holiday,” Barry says, “I just naturally gravitate towards everything Halloween because my house needs more Halloween decor.”
Barry brought back in her thrift haul the following: Skeleton lights,
“They’re spooky,” says Barry.
An infant-sized pumpkin costume,
“I wanted to be a pumpkin for Halloween and I couldn’t find a costume for it. So I bought this infant sized one, and I plan on cutting the elastic on the bottom so it can be a costume top for Halloween.” Says Barry. How genius is that, y’all?
A troll doll dressed in a pumpkin costume,
“He was just so cute and I knew he would become great friends with the Grumpy Cat stuffed animal at me house.”
And lastly, A Jesus Christ pillow.
“My roommates actually hate the Jesus pillow I bought,” Barry explains. “One of them put the pillow in my shower, so when I turned on the water and was about to get in, I opened the curtain and saw my Jesus pillow soaked in water. So that was cool.”
