Located right off of South Glenstone near Walmart Neighborhood Market is Thrift Haven. The outside is not a good indicator for Thrift Haven’s actual size. Once you go in and wander closer to the back, you go through several different rooms and slowly realize how big it is.
Going in, it’s a little unorganized. To your right, you see the list of how much each item is. Thrift Haven is definitely a place you must (how I like to say, “pan for gold”). Be prepared to sift through a lot of breakable objects to find that endearing ceramic bear wearing a graduation cap and gown. Don’t be discouraged, as there are several small treasures inside.
What else you can expect to find:
Breakable objects of all sorts (Ceramic animals, vases, kitchenware),
An ample amount of coffee cups,
A wide selection of wooden frames,
Puzzles galore for those days at Grandma’s,
Computer monitors,
Entertainment centers,
Wedding dresses in all shades of white (eggshell, ivory, chalk, etc.), Prom dresses,
And this ceramic poodle that I have serious regrets about not buying.
Proceeds from Thrift Haven go to Fair Haven Children’s Home in Strafford, MO. This organization provides five safe, family group-homes on the outskirts of Strafford to care for children, short-term or long-term. When you leave Thrift Haven with purchases, know that you’re making a difference in the lives of children by improving their housing situation.
What did I buy? Nothing, sadly. I do regret not buying the ceramic poodle I admired up close. However, I think my Muppet Gang at home would’ve been upset with me bringing a ceramic poodle home…
